Depleted men’s cagers lose two more

Already reeling from the loss of four players who were ruled academically ineligible over Christmas, the Volunteer State Community College Men’s basketball team now must deal with two players who have left the team.

Sophomore Kevin Rimmer, a starter, and freshman Jayson Brown are no longer with the Pioneers. Rimmer missed four games with an injury to his throat and has elected not to return. Brown left for personal reasons.

“[Rimmer] got hit in the mouth and throat and after that, I think he just lost interest,” said Pioneer head coach Rusty Melvin. “The other kid just didn’t show up for practice and told me he wasn’t sure he wanted to play any more.”
