Do you like Halloween and fun games? Does your family also like Halloween and costume contests? Do you love playing mini golf, except this time make it “Glow Golf?” If so, Vol state had the perfect event for all students and their families if they wanted to tag along.
In the Thigpen library, Vol state hosted a glow golf game night, as well as costume contests that will be sponsored by the SGA. Everyone wore their best costumes for sure! There was also an escape room that will be sponsored by the CAB! Escape rooms can be perfect to kick off the Halloween celebrations, especially if they are spooky and give everyone that adrenaline rush that is always needed when this time rolls around! There was lots of pizza for the main course, and then lots of candy after you finished your pizza! It sure looked like a fun time that was put on by the Vol State staff.
During that time, students had the opportunity to meet new people, laugh, and play some golf with friends or a team of their choice. There were 10 holes for glow golf, but you played nine unless you tied up with someone. There were also some other fun games as well. There were two main games where it was cup pong. The ping pong balls were eyeballs, and the cups were just normal. The 2ndone was horseshoes with the horseshoes being glow sticks that you had to throw onto witches’ hats. The prizes for the winners were candy of their choice.
Not only were there games, but there was also a raffle you could have participated in. However, that was only if you took a selfie with “Booney the Skeleton.” If you took a selfie and showed someone, you were entered into a raffle to win a lot of fun and spooky prizes!
The costume contest that was going on throughout the night ended up being popular. There were “Singles” and “Duo” costume categories. The single winner named Owen won as Ash Ketchum. The duo winners were Roxanne Carter and Lex Woodard, dressed as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from the rock band, “KISS.” The kiss duo had tied with the Addams family duo in votes, but it defaulted to whichever duo the crowd cheered (wooed) for.
There were many fun prizes given out to the winners of the costume contest for each of the categories. The first-place prize for the “Singles” category was a new pair of Airpods. The first-place prize for the “Duos” category was a large box that had plushies, drinks, candy, and popcorn inside of it. It was called “Movie Supplies.” Who doesn’t want to have a movie night on Halloween with their friends?
The Vol State students and staff had a great time putting on/attending this event! The prizes were good and convenient, everyone had fun, it was something different, and it was the perfect thing to kick off the Halloween weekend! Happy Halloween!
