Under .500 the Pioneers have had their ups and downs, but they continue to play hard and together throughout the season.

The season is winding down and the playoffs are less than two weeks away. The Pioneers pitching is crucial to their success this postseason and they must find a flow offensively.

“Its been our one struggle all season, scoring runs, so to have a good run in the tournament we’ll have to figure out something offensively,” said head coach Ryan Hunt.

Despite their struggles offensively, the morale of the team is still in a good space and they don’t let it affect their play in different areas in the game.

“As a team we’re doing alright, we just got a huge win against Vincennes University 13-6 after dropping a series, so we’re getting back to where we need to do be,” said infielder Ryan Horne.

This week the Pioneers will face off against Chattanooga State Community College in a three-game series.

Game one will be this Friday, April 26, at 2 p.m. here on Vol State main campus and games two and three will be Sat. April 27, at noon and 2:30 p.m.

Those three games will be the final games of the regular season before tournament play begins May 6.
