Official statement from Volunteer State Community College website:
“Vol State is canceling classes for all locations for an extended Spring Break from March 16-21 due to COVID-19 precautions. This will include online classes. All campus events are also canceled. Faculty and staff will report for full days. Offices will be closed to the public on Monday, March 16 for planning. All employees report to the Gallatin Campus at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16. All Vol State offices at all locations will reopen to students and the public for normal business hours starting March 17.
Many in-person classes will go to an online only format starting March 23. See your Vol State student email for details. Also visit the eLearn email for each class if it is set up. Some labs will still meet on campuses with added precautions in place. See your student email for details. It is very important that you check both your student email and eLearn email at least once a day to stay up to date on possible changes for each class. We are not sure of the duration for this change to online learning. It will depend on public health conditions.
Current students should still plan for Priority Registration for summer and fall classes by visiting DegreeWorks on MyVolState. Priority class registration for current students is still set for April 6 and 7 on My Vol State. People considering college in the summer and fall should still apply online. Application processing will continue as normal. We want to make sure that this current disruption doesn’t impact potential students and current students for summer and fall class registration. Our goal is to continue that process as normal as possible.
We know that these changes will be challenging. We appreciate everyone working together to make them happen. Our goal is to continue our academic endeavors while taking the proper health precautions.
We have set up a web page with more specific information, including college contacts if students or employees become ill.”
