The end of the semester is quickly approaching with only three weeks left until finals. Student Engagement and Support have contracted with Campus Spa to help students de-stress while preparing for finals.

“We have a company called Campus Spa that will come to campus to provide an opportunity for students to relax and take a break from studying,” said Tabitha Sherrell, Student Activities Coordinator.

Campus Spa is a company out of Pigeon Forge that brings the spa to different locations and events such as midterms, finals, orientation, welcome back events and spring flings.

“We are excited to bring you a complete spa experience sure to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Our highly trained and motivated team are dedicated to offering you the best quality of service,” says campus-spa.com.

Students will be able to sign up for a variety of services including a hand paraffin treatment, calf/foot massage, oxygen therapy, and a chair massage. According to the company’s website, a hand paraffin massage can improve circulation, ease joint stiffness and leaves hands silky smooth.

The calf/foot massage “involves deep-kneading, rolling Shiatsu massagers in the footbed and behind calves to help alleviate tension, improve circulation and stimulate the reflexology points on the soles of your feet.”

According to the National Heart and Lung Institute, “oxygen therapy can allow people to better function and be more active. It may help: Decrease shortness of breath and fatigue, improve sleep in some people who have sleep-related disorders, and increase the lifespan of some people.”

“Student Engagement contracts Campus Spa to be at each of the Vol State campuses in April because it is a stressful time of the year. Students are working on final papers and studying for exams. Campus Spa gives them a break and time to focus on self-care,” said Sherrell.

“I’m gonna go. I like to get rubbed on,” said student Marshall Wilson.

This is a FREE event that will be held in the Wood Campus Center on Tuesday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be refreshments, while supplies last.
