Since October is coming to a close, the English department and the Office of Student Engagement are presenting a free showing of “Us” a horror film directed by Jordan Peele for Halloween Movie Night. It will be in the Caudill Hall auditorium on Oct. 29, at 6 to 8 p.m.
“Us” is about a family that goes on a vacation and encounters their evil doppelgangers. IMDB summarizes it as, “In order to get away from their busy lives, the Wilson family takes a vacation to Santa Cruz, California with the plan of spending time with their friends, The Tyler family. On a day at the beach, their young son Jason almost wanders off, causing his mother Adelaide to become protective of her family. That night, four mysterious people break into Adelaide childhood home where they’re staying. The family is shocked to find out that the intruders look like the, only with grotesque appearances.” According to Rotten Tomatoes the movie has a rating of 93 percent with an audience score of 63 percent.
The main character, Adelaide Wilson, is played by Oscar winner Luptia Nyong’o, while the husband, Gabe Wilson, is played by Winston Duke. Both actors were in “Black Panther” a Marvel film directed by Ryan Coogler. The children, Jason and Zora Wilson are played by child actors Evan Alex and Shahadi Wright-Joseph. The Tyler family is played by Elisabeth Moss of “The Handmade’s Tale” and actors Tim Heidecker and Cali and Noelle Sheldon.
