Volunteer State students and staff members have free access to the Fitness Center every week day.

The Fitness Center is located in room 105 of the Wesley Pickle Field House building on Vol State’s campus. It is open Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Fitness Center has everything from treadmills and exercise bikes to squat racks and dumbbells.

Vol State student, Andrew Robinson, enjoys working out at the Fitness Center because it is free to him as a student and there are a lot of machines to choose from.

Whether you are trying to lose weight, gain muscle, or stay in shape, the Fitness Center has equipment and resources that can help you reach your goals.

Life for college students can be hectic. Sometimes it is hard to balance school, family, friends, and health. Gym membership fees can be expensive especially on a college student’s budget. Fortunately, Vol State students are able to use the Fitness Center at absolutely no cost to them.

The Fitness Center offers a close, accessible and free environment to get in shape.

Jonathan Pedrero, a student at Vol State, says he appreciates the convenience of being able to work out in-between classes.
Working out in the gym has many more health benefits than simply building muscle. Working out helps with flexibility, balance, weight management, posture, and mobility. Arlene Semeco who has her Master’s degree in human nutrition, said exercise can also improve one’s mood, decrease depression, increase energy levels, reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, and improve memory as well as one’s quality of sleep.

“Exercise offers incredible benefits that can I might improve nearly every aspect of your health from the inside out,” said Semeco.
