By Fay Kabasu

The fall season at Volunteer State Community College is finally arriving with the annual Fall Festival and Food Day on Oct. 24, at noon to 2 p.m. It will be outside the Thigpen Library plaza in between the Steinhauer-Rogan-Black Humanities Building (SRB). It’s an event for students and the community to come together for the day and celebrate the new season with interactive booths, carnival-styled games, food, and refreshments. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. while supplies last.

The United States has been officially celebrating Food Day since 2011, which was created by the Center of Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). It’s a holiday that encourages people to eat healthier. According to National Day Calendar, “One of the targets that Food Day aims to help people is to “Eat Real,”. All around the country people will be participating in the event and usually posting it on their social medias’ with the “#NationalFoodDay”, showcasing their support for healthier living. The CSPI executive director Michael F. Jacobson said, “Food Day is an opportunity for Americans to begin improving their diets.”4b1411_6742eed12f4d4908a7afa62511d4d4b3_mv2
