The commencement ceremony for students who applied for graduation in the Summer of 2022, or the Fall of 2022 will be held on Dec. 10 at 10am. The ceremony will take place in the Moore Gymnasium in Pickel Field House on the main campus in Gallatin. There will be a rehearsal on Dec. 9 also at 10am in the Moore Gymnasium and a Graduate Award Breakfast the same day.
“Approximately 580 students have applied to graduate for the fall semester. There were 294 summer graduates,” said Teresa Carter, Graduation Assistant. All summer students were also invited to participate in the December commencement ceremony, said Carter.
According to the Vol State website, all students who wish to graduate in the Fall Semester must apply to graduate by completing a graduation packet with an advisor and submitting it to the Office of Records and Registration. Additionally, students must have a VSCC GPA of 2.00 or higher and complete the ETS Proficiency Profile, along with any other program specific exit exams. Students who received student loans must complete the Student Loan Exit Counseling and any student with outstanding fees must pay them before graduating.
Graduates who wish to participate in the commencement ceremony will receive an email through their Vol State student email with instructions on how to register for the ceremony and regarding guest ticket distribution information. Students who will be graduating with GPA honors, veteran status, or through honors societies such as Phi Theta Kappa, will be able to pick up honor cords through the Vol State bookstore.
“Latin [GPA] Honors will be announced during the commencement ceremony when the graduate name is announced. The Outstanding Graduate Award will also be announced during the Commencement Ceremony. All other awards will be presented at the Graduate Award Breakfast on Dec. 9,” said Teresa Carter.
“For summer, 109 students received Latin Honors. For pending fall graduates, 128 will receive Latin Honors,” added Carter.
The number of guests students are allowed to invite to graduation is dependent on the number of students attending graduation in accordance with occupancy regulations and students will receive invitations and instructions through their Vol State email. Currently, 285 students have applied for the commencement ceremony.
Students are encouraged to participate in the commencement ceremony and pick up honors cords from the bookstore. Any questions or concerns students may have regarding graduation can be sent to graduation@volstate.edu.
