It is officially graduation time! Volunteer State Community College’s Spring Graduation will be held on Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m. in the Pickel Gym.
Around 800 students have applied to graduate next week.
It is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged that any student graduating attend rehearsal in case of questions.
If your name has a unique pronunciation, then you can meet with Dean Mann to provide the correct annunciation to ensure your name is accurately pronounced when you walk across the stage.
If any tickets are returned to Records, they will be handed out during rehearsal.
According to Tim Amyx, Senior Director of Student Services, “Dressing smart is important. Dark pants are best for gentlemen and ladies who wish to wear pants. It’s generally cold in the gym prior to the ceremony, but once all the people get in there, it can be very warm. A good selection is important too.”
Make sure to wear shoes that won’t trip you while crossing the stage. Graduates will be standing and will be up and down during the ceremony.
The singers will be chosen by the music faculty, and the speaker is chosen by Dr. Orinthia Montague, the President of Vol State.
There will be a reception after graduation for grads and their families in the parking lot outside of the gym.
Congratulations to the class of 2023!
