Volunteer State Community College’s Student Government Association will be sponsoring a Halloween Bash event Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 5 – 7 p.m. The event will take place in the Thigpen Library and on the Thigpen Plaza outside.
Representatives from student organizations like the Campus Activity Board (CAB) and Student Government Association (SGA) will be present. USA National Miss Teen, Bailey Guy, will also make an appearance in her sash. All students are encouraged to attend in costume.
SGA President Hevgir Tayip said, “SGA has not been a sponsor for this event. SGA has sponsored Halloween party events before, but nothing like the Halloween Bash 2021 event. We are so excited about sponsoring such an event!”
According to the campus event page, “SGA will be sponsoring a viewing of The Nightmare Before Christmas movie, running a costume contest, and providing spooky treats, while the library provides Haunted Glow Golf on the 1st and 2nd floor of Thigpen Library. Enjoy free food and T-shirts, while supplies last.”
“There will be a total of 8 holes for Haunted Glow Golf with 4 stations on the first floor of the library and 4 stations on the 2nd floor of the library. Students can expect to see Halloween decorations and of course “glow in the dark” golf courses,” said Student Support Coordinator Tiffany Zwart.
Students also have the opportunity to play a Halloween Trivia Kahoot game. The deadline for this game is Thursday, Oct. 29, by 5 p.m. The winner will receive a $200 cash prize. According to the event page, the link to the Kahoot game will be emailed to students.
For more information, students may contact Zwart via email. Those who want to participate in the planning of future SGA-sponsored events may participate in discussions at the SGA meetings. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 11:15 a.m.
