Volunteer State Community College will be having “A night in Italy” event. This Event will be Live stream on Zoom on Sun. April 24 from 3-4:30pm.
This event will be a choral concert featuring Italian music performed by Vol State singers. According to the Vol state calendar there will be selections performed in English and Italian.
“Italian music sounds interesting and relaxing. I would say if you want to relax and maby do some homework while listening to some new music this is the best time to.” said Vol State student Zach Joyner.
“When I think about Italy, I think about being on a balcony in Paris looking at the Eifel tower. I feel like this event will bring the same mood.” said another Vol State student Hilary West. “I believe everyone should give it a try. You can also hear some talent that comes from our school.”
According to an article by Francesca Bezzone titled Italian traditional music, where it all began, traditional Italian music was influenced by political divisions in the country and the music is different throughout the different regions in the country.
Italian music can be traced all the way back to ancient Rome. Opera and other modern forms of Italian music styles became popular in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
“I personally don’t remember the last time I heard any kind of Italian song, so going to this event might be good for me to listen to something I’m not really used to listening to,” said Vol State student Troy Fields. “I know that Italian music is very popular in movies and shows and there’s a reason why.”
