Looking for a way to contribute to the atmosphere on campus while adding valuable experience to your resume? Consider joining the Campus Activity Board (CAB).
Tabitha Sherrell, Coordinator of Student Activities, is the club’s sponsor.
CAB has been tasked with developing and executing a variety of social, cultural and educational activities on campus for the last 10 years.
The Campus Activity Board meets every other Thursday at 11:15 a.m., in Wood 213, with each meeting being an hour long. During the meetings, students talk about what events they will be putting on next and how they are going to execute them.
“Members focus on planning, advertising, and attending the events throughout the academic year,” said Sherrell.
Some events the Campus Activity Board has put together are Stream of Illusion, a virtual magic show by Ran’D Shine, and Chalk the Walk, where students can write positive & encouraging messages on the sidewalk and enjoy a free sandwich.
According to the Vol State website, in addition to planning, advertising, and attending events, by joining this club, students have the opportunity to develop skills such as budgeting and record keeping, as well as learn how to collaborate with others and work in a team atmosphere.
The Campus Activity Board is also part of the Student Government Association (SGA)committee. The SGA provides students the opportunity to work with college administration officers in matters affecting the welfare of the student body. They do this by working with all student organizations to maintain and improve the quality of student life both on and off campus. To learn more about SGA, students can visit the Vol State website.
Interested in joining the Campus Activity Board? In that case, students can show up to the CAB committee meetings and start volunteering to help with upcoming events and activities. Also, students can contact Tabitha Sherrell @Tabitha.Sherrell@volstate.edu for any questions regarding the Campus Activity Board.
