Volunteer State Community College will return to requiring masks in indoor settings effective Monday, Aug. 2, according to an email Friday fromVol State President Jerry Faulkner. He noted that the new mask requirement was a result of a change in CDC recommendations and following guidance from the Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor.
This latest revision in mask protocol is due to the current level of community transmission of COVID in the 11 counties of the college’s service area.
Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.
As was previously the case, masks will be required at all times inside all Vol State locations except when you are in a private office or when dining. Masks will not be required out-of-doors.
Faulkner said that he hopes that this will be a short-term requirement and that this precaution will help to reverse the current increase in cases in our service area.
“When the case counts drop, we will be able to change the mask requirement,” he said. “We will continue to monitor the situation. At this time, we do not anticipate that this will result in rescheduling any classes or other events at the college.”
