Still No Permanent Food Option at Vol State

While the construction of the cafeteria continues at VSCC students and staff still have not had a  permanent food option on campus since the end of 2021.

“Best case scenario is mid to late summer,” said Senior Director of Plant Operations William Newman.

“I’m glad they are updating the cafeteria. I do feel like it’s going to take a little longer than it should,” said VSCC student Emily Scalera.

Despite the lack of permanent food options for students or staff, there are still a few options that don’t involve leaving campus.

On the Gallatin Campus, back side of Caudill Hall, on selected days, 10 a.m. -1 p.m. you will be able to find food such as Samusi Hibachi, Calidogs, Mikey’s Pizza, and Don Miguelito’s Tacos. With this option, if you show your Vol State ID you will receive discounts.

There are several vending machines around campus. While all of them take cash, some machines do accept credit cards or Apple Pay too.

“Some mornings I have to choose between getting breakfast or being on time to class. Having food options on campus would make it so I wouldn’t be late to class so much. I think a Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, or even a McDonald’s would be a great addition,” said VSCC student Lauren Cott.
