With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, students at Volunteer State Community College are gearing up to celebrate the holiday with either a special someone or to celebrate it in their own way.
For those looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day at Vol State, the Office of Student Engagement and Support is hosting an event for all Vol State students at the Gallatin campus.
“We are hosting a Well Table and will have free pizza, cupcakes and drinks. CAB will be hosting a Stuff-a-Plush at the same time allowing students to create their own stuffed animal,” said Tiffany Zwart from the Office of Student Engagement and Support at Vol State in Gallatin.
The Well table will be on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, in the SRB second floor hallway at 12:15 p.m.
When asked about the purpose of celebrating Valentine’s day, Vol state student Zane Brittan said, “We want an excuse to celebrate something that is deeply human and the phenomenon of loving someone and being loved back.”
“I think the purpose is to show those you love that you love them,” said Zwart.
Through the Well Table, Zwart wants Vol State students to, “know we care”, about the students and to show them love on this special day.
When asked about what their favorite part of Valentine’s day is, student Makaya Terry said, “Spending time with my significant other and celebrating our love.”
Valicity Morales, another student at Vol State said that her favorite part of Valentine’s day is the, “Love aspect, not just romantic love, but also friendship love.”
