Tutoring available for Vol State students

By Nichollas Plucker

For students at Volunteer State Community College that feel like they are having trouble with their schoolwork or feeling overwhelmed by it, Vol State offers tutoring for students in the Learning Commons, located in the library. Students interested in seeking tutoring assistance can search Online Tutoring, Homework Help and Test Prep in Math, Science, and English – Tutor.com from their eLearn page.

Tutoring offers services both on campus and online through Zoom. Tutoring services are available to any student. All any Vol State student needs to do is walk into the Learning Commons, sit down at any open computer seat, and put up a blue cup that lets tutors know they are being requested for help. Math and English tutors are available in person, but Science tutors are only available online.

If students are unable to meet in-person on campus, then students can also access help on Tutor.com through their eLearn. It is particularly useful as it can offer tutoring for subjects that Learning Commons do not offer along with being flexible with the student’s schedule.

The Learning Commons times are Monday-Thursday from 7:45 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday from 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., but it is online only on Saturday.

“There are times in all of our lives where we need assistance. The Learning Commons serves as academic support for our students. Student success is our job one, we love helping students succeed,” said Delois Reagan, Coordinator of Learning Commons.
