Vol State fundraising event “Complete the Dream” hopes to raise $50,000 for students

Sumner Regional Medical Center is sponsoring a fundraising event at Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club to raise funds for Volunteer State Community College. The event will take place Thursday, Nov. 4, from 5:30 – 9 p.m. 

Alison Webster, Vol State’s resource development officer, organized the event with her fellow Foundation Office committee. Vol State student president ambassadors play a role in assisting with the event as well.

According to Vol State’s public relations and marketing coordinator, Eric Melcher, Anyone is welcome after purchasing a ticket for $75 each. And actor and comedian Henry Cho, who has made appearances on NBC’s “The Tonight Show”, and CBS’s “The Late, Late, Show” will be a special guest. 

The event will feature student testimonies, dinner and entertainment. The goal of the event is to reach $50,000 in donations by the end of the night, there is currently $35,000 raised.

“Each year I have a list of sponsors that have been past sponsors or are identified as potential sponsors and we start to promote them through our social media. I work with our PR office on campus,” said Webster. 

The event will also include activities for the guests to join in on. “In the past we have done silent auctions, we’ve done the game of chance with people,” said Webster. 

Guests may participate in a raffle to receive a bottle of wine. Cocktails and appetizers will be provided for guests. Speeches about the foundation will be made. Students will have the opportunity to speak about their stories and how their experience was or has been at Vol State.

Dinner and entertainment at 6:15 p.m.

This is an off-campus event being held at The Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Webster said the event is not only for guests to enjoy themselves, but a time for students to be appreciated and acknowledged for their hard work during the school semesters. The main purpose of the fundraiser event allows the community to give financial benefits to Vol State students.
