Volunteer State Community College’s Gallatin Campus will show the Disney film, “Raya and The Last Dragon,” Friday, Sept. 24, at 7:15 p.m. Students and their families can watch the film for free on the quad, located outside the Thigpen Library.

“I am going to be attending with my children, and I have invited my church group to attend,” said Elizabeth Dorris, Vol State’s middle college counselor. Dorris said she attended a previous movie showing and expects the showing of “Raya and The Last Dragon” to be enjoyable for family members.

The film received a 94 percent Tomatometer score on the Rotten Tomatoes Website. The film also received a 97 percent audience score. The overall critic’s review reads, “Another gorgeously animated, skillfully voiced entry in the Disney canon, ‘Raya and the Last Dragon,’ continues the studio’s increased representation while reaffirming that its classic formula is just as reliable as ever.”

The film is one hour and 48 minutes.

According to Vol State’s Campus Events page, there will be refreshments offered during the movie showing. It is suggested that those planning to attend bring their own seating.

“I think people should attend the movie night in hopes of meeting new people or even just to enjoy the movie… . I am excited to be able to see the Disney movie and it’s a free event, so why not go?” said Vol State freshmen Kylie Auberger.
