Faculty and staff have lunch, free merchandise and club sign-up sheets outside the Thigpen Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today!
According to Tiffany Zwart The Coordinator of Student Support, students can talk to several different churches who have all joined to become “The Collegiate Ministry Club” this semester.
“Used to we would have LH college, which was Long Hollow’s club, and then First Baptist would have a club. What they did this year is ‘Collegiate Ministry’ it’s going to be all these churches coming together,” said Zwart.
The only club advisers who will definitely be there during the entire event are from The Collegiate Ministry Club, but there are also sign-up sheets for clubs like The Settler, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Student Government Association (SGA) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
According to the Vol State website, students are expected to “check out resources available to you, play giant Jenga, Checkers, or Connect Four, and enjoy free lunch, while supplies last!” Students can also talk to faculty and staff who will answer questions, moderate these games, and hand out the lunch. “I’ll be there,” said Zwart.
When asked about the lunch available, Zwart said, “Today is root beer floats… we will also have burgers today instead of wraps.”
Today is the last day of the Fall Campus Kick Off event. It starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Students can attend the Virtual Club Recruitment Fair event on Sept. 9, but Zwart advises students to come to the Campus Kick Off event because it is important to, “come out and see the opportunities that are available.”
“There is a lot of support available to our students that they are probably not aware of… so that’s why they need to show up. If they take the time, sweat it out, it will be beneficial… maybe not now but at some point,” said Zwart.
