Dr. Orinthia T. Montague, Volunteer State Community College’s fourth president, was found dead today.
After not appearing at a Tennesee Board of Regents (TBR) quarterly meeting at Motlow State Community College she was found dead in her hotel room.
Before coming to Vol State in September, 2021, Montague served in New York, where she was president of Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden.
“Dr. Montague’s passing is a tremendous loss, not only to the Volunteer State Community but to the entire Tennessee Board of Regents System and higher education. She was a great leader who cared deeply about her students and their success,” said TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings.
