Volunteer State Community College is hosting a Kahoot Trivia game available until Friday Mar. 19 at 2 p.m. to support students career readiness.

According to Tabitha Sherrell, Coordinator of Student Activities in the Office of Student Engagement and Support at Vol State, March is being recognized as Career Readiness month and the Kahoot Trivia Game is meant to promote career readiness.

The Career Readiness Kahoot Game features multiple choice questions and true or false questions based on the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) career competencies, said Sherrell.

According to the NACE website, NACE launched its career readiness initiative in 2015 and provided a definition for career readiness and its eight associated competencies. Those competencies are teamwork, communication skills, leadership skills, career management, digital technology, professionalism, critical thinking, and global fluency.

“The Kahoot Game is meant to be a way for students to learn more about these competencies,” Sherrell said.

According to the NACE website, NACE was established in 1956 and is the leading source of information on the employment of the college educated.

NACE forecasts hiring trends in the job market, tracks starting salaries, recruiting, and hiring practices, and tracks student attitudes and outcomes, as well as identifies best practices and benchmarks, according to their website.

The NACE empowers the community of talent acquisition and higher education professionals focused on the development and employment of college-educated talent by advancing equitable, evidence-based practices; creating leading content, research, and professional development opportunities; and enabling robust professional networks, while serving as the voice for the profession, as stated on their website.

Students can play the Game by Friday, Mar. 19 at 2 p.m. for a chance to win a prize. All students have to do is enter their Vol State email as the nickname, said Sherrell.
