Vol State will be hosting an esports tournament at both the Gallatin and the Cookeville campuses from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 (Cookeville) and Thursday, March 28 (Gallatin).
The Gallatin event will have free food, and prizes will be awarded to gamers who win from first to third place.
Each event has prizes with a total value of over $750.
For this tournament, the game played will be NBA 2K24 using the PlayStation 5 platform to coincide with the NCAA March Madness tournament.
“We love to have gamers on campus of all ages competing against each other. We had an esports tournament in the fall where gamers competed in Madden NFL. We had age ranges from 8 to 40,” said Kevin Blankenship, Vol States Dean of Business and Technology.
“These tournaments are excellent community engagement events and help to highlight all Vol State has to offer. We are having additional tournaments to gauge interest in a student esports club and potentially a competitive team,” said Blakenship.
