Volunteer State Community College will host a free concert in the Wemyss Auditorium in Caudill Hall at 3 p.m., on April 14.
The Vol State Singers will be accompanied by the Portland High School Ensemble and the White House Heritage Choir in presenting Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, K339.
“Fauré Requiem” and “Rutter Requiem” will be featured at the concert. The event is not only free, but it is also open to everyone who would like to enjoy some music.
On April 4, Channel 5 reported that Governor Bill Lee was in no hurry to roll out 5G in Tennessee.
Whether you are excited about being able to stream movies on your phone while sitting in a driverless car or not, people simply do not want 5G installed near their homes. Residents in Bellevue were concerned when it was revealed that a large pole that had mysteriously appeared in front of their home was a 5G cell tower. They wanted to know about long-term health effects. Neighbors received no advance notice of a tower installed on Hwy 70 in front of an apartment complex either.

The Student Government Association is under Volunteer State Community College’s club spotlight.
“There is an SGA Presidents’ Wall in the Wood Campus Center, 217 hallway—you have to look up and see all of the frames, as well as the international flags,” Tabitha Sherrell said, who has been at Vol State for seven years and co-advises SGA with Nancy Blomgren. “According to those pictures, SGA has been around for 47 years, with the first year being in 1972.”
Volunteer State Community College student Zachary Houtman has been accepted into Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute School of Engineering (RPI) with a full scholarship to major in aerospace engineering.
Founded in 1824, RPI is one of the oldest schools in the country.
It is located in Troy, New York, 150 miles north of New York City.

Volunteer State students and staff members have free access to the Fitness Center every week day.
The Fitness Center is located in room 105 of the Wesley Pickle Field House building on Vol State’s campus. It is open Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Fitness Center has everything from treadmills and exercise bikes to squat racks and dumbbells.
